Iggy Azalea Says She Only Has 60 Fans, Vents On Twitter

Iggy Azalea is getting ready to release her sophomore studio album, Surviving the Summer, but she’s not feeling the love from her fans.

The rapper’s new comeback single, “Savior,” was released back on February 6th and it has gotten a pretty lukewarm reception so far. Despite featuring in-demand Migos rapper Quavo, as well as an all-star lineup of music industry titans as co-writers (Lisa Stansfield, Cirkus, Dr. Luke and more), “Savior” failed to chart on any major Billboard charts, only reaching No. 7 on the U.S. Bubbling Under Hot 100 Singles.

Now, Iggy is blaming her fan base for poor streaming numbers and for the track’s failure to chart. In a since-deleted tweet posted on Wednesday (April 4th), the Australian rapper responded to a fan who suggested the Azaleans—the artist’s fan base—are the strongest music fandom.

Her response? “No offense, I love y’all, but are we the strongest fandom?” she asked. “‘Cause we have no chart debut and terrible streaming.” Azalea also revealed she believes she has a small following, adding, “I love all of you but that’s highly debatable. There’s like 60 Azaleans.”

When another fan joked that it’s “not our fault there’s 60 of us,” Azalea responded, “Well, I love all 60 of you; I just want to come online and have fun conversations with you guys.” She also added that she doesn’t like when fans criticize or share their input on her creative decisions, as she finds it “mentally draining.”

“Please, let’s all allow me to be my own person, they way I support you guys as individuals,” the performer wrote.

However, this isn’t the first time Azalea has lamented the era of streaming and called on fans for their support. On Twitter back in February, after a fan remarked that the initial views for the lyric video for “Savior” were low, Azalea responded, “We need to treat this [lyric video’ the same way we would the official MV until the real one is complete. Ugh, this streaming stuff is stressful!”
